The lemurs leemed, which was good.
The gorilla was more of a sit-rilla, though.
Three of the otters were otting, two were, well, boom-chicka-wow-wow.
Dallas Zoo is small, and nowhere near as nice as Fort Worth’s, but it was still a nice couple hours’ stroll.
Tigers, by the way, remain scary animals.

/ September 3, 2008The otters remind me of a trip to the Columbia Zoo many years ago. It was the spring, and the morning, so many of the animals were quite active at the zoo that day, including two blue Macaws. Not only did these two need to get a private room, but from the noise they were making you would think they were planning on trying out for a porn film. We were laughing quite a bit and suggested to the slightly bemused and annoyed zookeeper for the birdhouse that maybe she should offer the birds a cigarette later. I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone laugh and blush at the same time when I said it to her.

/ September 3, 2008I was really amused just how much all the parents with kids watching the otters tried to ignore the two who were VERY enthusiastically at it, and have the kiddos concentrate on the three who were chasing each other and playing instead. While muttering to each other about the other two in a very low tone and chuckle.

/ September 3, 2008Sometimes being a parent at the zoo is an interesting experience. Like the time the Chimpanzee at the Columbus Zoo started flinging poo. I was trying to set a good example and NOT LAUGH while rushing my kids along that there was nothing to see of interest in that exhibit. I barely succeeded and had to convince my kids that I was laughing at a private joke they wouldn’t get.
