So if I said I’d like to beat a raccoon to death with a shovel…

these dorks in Washington State would probably call me an evil, evil man.

Whether or not they’ve got a couple of bad apples literally thrill-killing on their cat population.

Is it just me, or are some humans too civilised to survive?

  1. Uh,
    W… T… F… ?!

That is the damn craziest story I’ve read in some time. I’m a serious animal lover but those psycho pests need to go one way or another.

  2. I’m a critter-hugger too. Doesn’t mean I won’t kill ’em if I need to. We have not yet transcended this carbony goodness, ya know…

  3. I have a rule with bugs: if it isn’t wary of me it gets killed without hesitation. After that article I think perhaps small wild mammals should also qualify — perhaps just mace the first time, to see if they might become wary and thereby merit sparing.

  4. You don’t see too much of this. Usually when it happens it’s because the ‘coon is hungry. At which point kitty is fair game: that’s just the facts of life.

This is something else entirely. Like the possums we get out back sometimes. Mostly harmless. Except for that one on the haybales that was sizing me up for dinner.

Umm… aren’t guns allowed in Washington state? Who lets themselves be terrorized by raccoons? Especially since they know the route (the have made trails!) and the times (9 to 9:30!)

Maybe I’m too darned Texan, but gimme a break1
