Where are the Chinese Women?

The Daily Mail has a photo and commentary on Northern Chinese at the beach.  It’s not very good commentary, truth be told.  But the photo is something else entirely.

There are hardly any women.  At all.  And of the ones who can be seen in the picture, almost all of them seem to be parents or middle-aged.  There are a couple girls here and there (including what looks like a cute couple walking hand-in-hand).  But the gals are a distinct minority.

Is this what the One Child Policy has wrought?  Boring beach photos?

At the least, one can hope that scarcity will engender (hah!) a sense of increased value, and that these gals are getting treated better.

So would N Korea. Booming trade in Korean women on the border.

  7. Korea and Japan need a better birthrate… I wonder how China’s is?
