Yet another example…

that helps to explain my vitriolic hatred of the world-class liars and hypocrites known as PETA:

“In 2003, PETA euthanized over 85 percent of the animals it took in,” said a press release from the lobby, “finding adoptive homes for just 14 percent. By comparison, the Norfolk (Va.) SPCA found adoptive homes for 73 percent of its animals and Virginia Beach SPCA adopted out 66 percent.”

There’s more, and plenty of it, from Debra Saunders out in SF, not that far away (by Texas standards) from the latest PETA animal slaughter.

PETA is awful. There is a reason why they are being watched for terrorism by the FBI. They would like you to believe that they think it is ok to torment and threaten and kill humans but no animals when, in reality, all they care about is making a big stink so that people THINK they are good. It is like trying to buy your way into heaven, only instead of doing good deeds for people (hell, or even animals) they are just trying to get the public to back their cause. It is sad. It is sick. And, sadly, there are people who think they are wonderful, and who go around trying to do good for animals in their name, when, really, what they should be doing is taking care of the animals like they have been and taking credit for their goodness. PETA sure as hell doesn’t deserve that credit.

  2. I know! I read about this stuff and thought, “GRRR! Where are my firebombs?!”

I seem to recall I owe you coffee and ice cream or something like that… give me a buzz?

  4. The thing that killed me on PETA (before I’d heard about the terrorism thing) was when I read an article in their magazine advocating that people buy Nike shoes, as Nike has a number of “cruelty-free” (i.e. non-leather) styles.
I sent them an email suggesting that just maybe they ought to think about whether it was crueler to make shoes out of leather, or make shoes using children for sweatshop labor in third-world countries.

Sheesh, what a bunch of losers. But then again, I have always hated PETA. Their self-rightous comments on “giving the Plains back to the buffalos” make them rather unpopular in my home state. Although more buffalo isn’t a bad idea, they taste great.

  7. Yeah, buffalo are like what beef ought to be…

  8. Bison is indeed tasty, as is venison, or any other animal that gets exercise on a regular basis.
