Be glad you don’t live in a shithole like China, where it’s apparently completely acceptable (albeit technically illegal) to cram people into factories and work them 17+ hours a day, 7 days a week. Yeah, that’s what 80 hours of overtime means. It took a “rash of suicides” for anybody to get some sunshine onto this and for anybody to care. How many is a “rash,” one wonders?
Don’t think making people stand out in the sun and repeat slogans is going to help, assholes. How about giving them enough time off to sleep seven hours a day AND wash their faces?

/ August 18, 2010Um, it’s 80-hours a month overtime …whih translates to about 3.5-4 hours a day if you take a 22-workday week, no work on Sat/Sun. If there’s work on Sat/Sun, it’s about 2.6 hours a day on top of an 8-hour shift. Still pretty ugly at 10-12 hours a day, don’t get me wrong. Also, the suicide number is in the article: 12 so far this year, whivh, I admit, for the same company is rather alarming.
Just being my usual contrary self…

/ August 18, 2010EEEEEP! Yes, I have “failed at Teh Litterassy.”
On the suicide numbers, that’s 12 **this year.** What’s their total, that they’re installing nets b/c they expect this to CONTINUE? Who considers employee suicide a cost of payroll?
