The Oregon Trail…

I’m teaching Manifest Destiny this week… and a student prompted me to this, which may send some of you strolling down amnesia lane for a bit.  For those of you who never played this in grade school, it’s just what it says: try to get to Oregon in a wagon train.

  1. Used to love to play this in 4th & 5th grade (late 80s-ish)! Darn if I didn’t lose most of the oxen and family to disease and starvation along the way though. Usually a few of the wagon train drowned crossing the snake river. :( But more often than not we made it. Glad to see the game is still in existence and kids are still learning from it!
