Please understand the nature of my job here is to be impartial and to report violations from both sides without bias. As an Unarmed Military Observer, this is my raison d’etre.
What I can tell you is this: we have on a daily basis had numerous occasions where our position has come under direct or indirect fire from both artillery and aerial bombing. The closest artillery has landed within 2 meters of our position and the closest 1000 lb aerial bomb has landed 100 meters from our patrol base. This has not been deliberate targeting, but has rather been due to tactical necessity.
Translation: Those Hezbollah bastards are using us as human shields while they fight, and since we’re completely helpless to do anything about it, I forgive the Israelis in advance for when the inevitable happens.
Damn. I wish I had balls like that. Maj Hess-von Kruedener, we salute you.

/ July 27, 2006Damn, and people wonder why I think the UN is so worthless (can’t even let their own troops protect themselves). Remember the days when the UN had the cajones to do things like the Korean War? Well, I don’t either, but that’s why I read history. Speaking of the UN (and totally off topic), did anyone else catch the article on how the UN wants to levy a direct tax on “certain” member states in order to ensure a steady income flow so “important operations” would be continually funded? So those certain states can’t withhold funds if the UN starts being stupid?
Anyone care to guess who is on the top of that list?

/ November 8, 2006Who are you to make assumptions on another’s words. When he wrote “Please understand the nature of my job here is to be impartial and to report violations from both sides without bias. As an Unarmed Military Observer, this is my raison d’etre.” he meant it. Maj. Wolf H.v.K (as he was known to co-workers and friends) was a man of his words. How dare you twist them to your own personal agenda.
